Selected Properties of Soils for Long-Term Use in Organic Farming

Abstract: The goal of organic farming with respect to plant production is to create high-quality products while minimizing human impacts. The aim of this paper was to assess soil properties in selected organic farms in terms of the achievement of general and specific objectives of organic farming. Fifty five (55) organic farms were selected for the research; twenty five (25) of those farms additionally had conventional animal production with cattle breeding. Soil samples were collected from each farm and, the following … Show more

“…Reducing the total amount of elements introduced into the soil environment raises the risk of reducing yields, which agricultural producers fear [7]. Liang [37] has indicated the high effectiveness of subsidizing technological innovations in agricultural production in terms of limiting the negative impact on the environment [46][47][48][49][50][51][52][53][54]. Linking subsidies with pro-environmental measures in agriculture can bring positive effects in reducing GHG emissions.…”

“…(1) Organic farming Organic farming represents one important potential contributor to environmental, economic, and social sustainability [40] (p. 1), and is often perceived to have beneficial impacts on the environment, compared to conventional farming [41][42][43][44][45]. Thus, it is gaining recognition as a relatively friendly production system and, as Hansen et al [46] (p. 11) remarked, in general, the risk of harmful environmental effects is lower with organic than with conventional farming methods, though not necessarily so.…”

“…Among the different types of involvement of innovation brokers [10,11], their interaction in collaborative projects represents one of their more complex, rich, and engaged roles. In addition to developing and supporting the partnership, they engage in co-creative innovation activities with colleagues, in a process of greater co-creation and joint development [12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19].…”
