Selecting a proper construction system in small and medium mass housing projects, considering success criteria and construction volume and height

Abstract: Purpose As the population grows, one of the major global crises is the management of human settlement. A proper solution to deal with this issue is mass housing. Given the variable needs in these projects, two constraints of height and volume of construction play an essential role in fulfilling success criteria. Hence, this paper aims to choose the most appropriate building method to satisfy time, cost, quality and safety factors considering the volume and height of construction. “…according to (Boguslawski et al , 2016; Vandecasteele et al , 2017; Zverovich et al , 2017) One of the recognized criterion for success in saving time, and therefore decreasing casualties is “upgrading and improving decision-making speed” during an emergency event. In addition, according to Kang et al (2016), Rüppel and Schatz (2011), Chou et al (2019), Noorzai and Golabchi (2020), Noorzai et al (2020), Noorzai (2020), Gharouni Jafari et al (2014) and Cocking et al (2009) “safety” is an important factor in operation management improvement. According to research conducted by Kang et al (2016), the principal reason for death is unsafe measures and unsafe conditions.…”

“…With the rapid expansion and advancements of information technology (IT) in the construction industry such as BIM and databases, the integration process of various fields of the construction industry has been being enhanced (Noorzai and Golabchi, 2020). In recent years, a new category has emerged on the tendency to integrate risk management with the use of IT frameworks as means to monitor, analyze and visualize risk information (Tah and Carr, 2000).…”
