“…Cosmochim. Acta29, 1263Acta29, (1965 Samples were transferred pneumatically to the Ge(Li) spectrometry system and counted at regular intervals to establish the decay of 2K A1, 49 Ca, 51 Ti, 52 V, 24 Na, 56 Mn and 27 Mg. Tables 2 and 3. Table 2 shows results obtained for major elements and Table 3 Tables 2 and 3 Ge(Li) spectrum of W-1 after 24 Na separation.…”

“…56 Mn produced from 56 Fe by activation with fast neutrons and from 55 Mn by activation with thermal neutrons, emits gamma rays of energy of 0.84, The gamma spectra are collected by a Nuclear Data 2200 system with 2048 channel memory and spectrum stabilizer. The output of the analyzer is by punched paper tape for computer use.…”

“…-21- Edgington and Lucas (1971) and Girardi and Sabbioni (1968) 24 have developed a method of removing Na, the major interference in NAA of environmental samples, based on selective 24 retention of the Na on hydrated antimony pentoxide (HAP). 24 182 233 All neutron activation products, except Na, Ta and Pa, reportedly pass through the HAP column and are measured by Ge(Li) gamma-ray spectrometry.…”

“…The 28 Mg produced in this way is not free from other radionuclides. Excluding relatively short-lived radionuclides, where decay is virtually complete within one hour after the end of irradiation, the following contaminants will remain [4]: (i) tritium from 6 Li(n,a) 3 H reaction, (ii) 18 F from the ie O(t,n) 18 F reaction with oxygen present as impurity in the alloy and particularly in the oxide film on the alloy foil, (iii) 24 Na from the 25 Mg(t,a) 24 Na and 24 Mg(n,p) 24 Na and from (n,y)-activation of any sodium impurities and (iv) contaminants resulting from the (n,y)-activation of other possible impurities in the target material (for example 56 Mn from manganese). Various radiochemical separations of 28 Mg from irradiated Li-Mg alloys are known.…”
