This study aims to determine the self-handicapping levels of sports management department students. Furthermore, the study endeavors analyzing the sports management students’ self-handicapping level by gender, grade, grade point average, and exercise status. The study group analyzed with the survey method comprise 158 students enrolled in the Faculty of Sports Science for Sport Management Department at Erciyes University, Kayseri/Turkey during the 2018-2019 academic year. The study utilizes “Self-Handicapping Scale” developed by Jones and Rhodewalt (1982) and adapted to Turkish by Akın, Abacı and Akın (2010) as the data collection tool. The SPSS program was used for data analysis. The results indicate that the sports management students’ self-handicapping level in the study group was “moderate”. Moreover, the self-handicapping levels of the sports management students in the study group did not differ significantly by gender, grade, age and exercise status (p > 0.05). However, it was discovered that self-handicapping levels significantly differ by grade point average (p < 0.05).

Important national referees have psychological aspects, especially confidence and concentration when leading the match. This study aims to understand the confidence and concentration of badminton national referees in leading matches. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The population of this research is all 140 Indonesian national badminton referees with national licenses A and B. The sample technique used in this research is using purposive sampling technique with the number of subjects used in this study are 26 national referees A and B. The instrument used is a self-confidence questionnaire. and referee concentration as many as 32 statements. The data analysis technique in this study used a validity test measured by the correlations product moment technique and a reliability test using the Cronbach's alpha technique. From the validity test, the value of sig 0.004 was obtained for the confidence questionnaire and sig 0.000 for the concentration questionnaire. The results of the reliability test obtained a value of 0.871 for the self-confidence questionnaire and a value of 0.975 for the concentration questionnaire. The results showed that the level of self-confidence was 1 person (4%) in very low category, 2 (8%) in moderate category, 4 (15%) in high category, and 19 (73%) in very high category. As for the concentration level, there are 7 (27%) very low categories, 4 (15%) low categories, 4 (15%) high categories, and 11 (42%) very high categories.

Kişiler yaşamlarında başarmaları gereken görevlere yönelik başarısız olabilmektedirler. Bu başarısızlığın yaratacağı olumsuzluklara karşı bir strateji olarak kendini sabotaj davranışından yararlanarak başarısızlıklarını dışsallaştırma eğiliminde olmaktadırlar. Bireyin kendini sabote ettiğine yönelik yapılmış olan çalışmaların sadece psikoloji alanında değil eğitimden spora kadar birçok konuda yaygınlaştığı görülmektedir. Bu açıdan yaklaşıldığında lisansüstü tezlerde de giderek artan bir şekilde incelendiği gözlenmektedir. Bu araştırmada Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu Ulusal Tez Merkezi kapsamında kendini sabotaj üzerine yazılmış olan tezlerin bibliyometrik analiz yöntemi ile incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada kendini sabotaj ile ilgili yazılmış lisansüstü tezlerin; üniversite türü, il-üniversite adı, yıl, tez türü, danışman unvanı, enstitü, anabilim dalı, konu, sayfa sayısı, örneklem grubu ve anahtar kelime gibi değişkenler ele alınarak bibliyometrik analizleri yapılmıştır. Bibliyometrik çalışmaların amaçları arasında yeni çalışmalara konu oluşturulmasında yardımcı olmak yer almaktadır. Tezlerde kullanılmış olan anahtar sözcükler kapsamında kendini sabotaj davranışı ile ilgili konulara yönelik eğilim belirlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda tezlere yönelik elde edilen bilgiler doğrultusunda kendini sabotaj konusuna yönelik bir bakış açısı oluşturulduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu bağlamda, yapılan bu çalışmanın kendini sabotaj davranışı alanında çalışma yapmak isteyenler için yön vermesi beklenmektedir.
