Semantic patterns for user‐interactive question answering

Abstract: SUMMARYA new type of semantic pattern is proposed in this paper, which can be used by users to post questions and answers in user-interactive question answering (QA) systems. The necessary procedures of using semantic patterns in a QA system are also presented, which include question structure analysis, pattern matching, pattern generation, pattern classification and answer extraction. Both the manual creation method and the automatic generation method are proposed for patterns for different applications. A pa… Show more

An entropy-based method proposed in previous work [58] is applied for automated semantic pattern generation. Figure 3 shows the visualization of example FAQ data in the LMD-FAQ repository.…”

“…Van Der Aalst et al (2003) suggests the Cancellation Pattern, that cancel instances in individual activities and Barros, Dumas, and ter Hofstede (2005) proposes the Send Pattern. Hao et al (2008) defines a question answering-pattern that enables automatically responding to questions. In Thom, Reichert, and Iochpe (2009), a Notification Pattern can be found that defines the status or result of an activity execution that is communicated to one or more process participants.…”
