This paper reported the in situ fabrication of high‐performance poly(ionic liquid) adsorbents by using polymeric double‐ionic liquid microemulsions (PDILMs)‐mediated thermosynthesis. The PDILMs were successfully formed and their pseudo‐ternary phase diagram was presented. Subsequently, poly(ionic liquid)s were in situ thermosynthesized in PDILMs. The microstructure of the prepared poly(ionic liquid)s was characterized by FTIR, Tg, and DSC analyses. Besides, the influence of various parameters including the crosslinking agent amount, reaction time and adsorbent dosage on the adsorption behavior of poly(ionic liquid)s for Zn(II) was investigated in detail. The results indicated that poly(ionic liquid)s were successfully in situ polymerized within PDILMs, and designed polymers exhibited excellent adsorption property for Zn(II) from aqueous water. Adsorption kinetics and adsorption isotherms further revealed that the adsorption process followed the pseudo‐second‐order kinetic model, and the Freundlich adsorption isotherm models were more suitable for the description of poly(ionic liquid)s for Zn(II) adsorption. A B S T R A C TLayer-structure materials have attracted considerable interest for the removal, separation, and preconcentration of trace metals in analytical and environmental chemistry. In the present work, we developed a separation and preconcentration method for lithium ions from water samples using K-birnessite with layer-structure material (KBRLSM) form. The experimental parameters that affected the extraction efficiency of the method such as pH, flow rate and volume of the sample solution, concentration of eluent, amount of adsorbent, effect of common matrix ions, and capacity of adsorbent were investigated and optimized. The adsorbed Li ions on KBRLSM were eluted with 5 mL of 1 mol L −1 HCl solutions and their concentrations were determined by high resolution-continuum source flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The adsorption isotherm studies indicate that the adsorption of Li ions follows both the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. The Langmuir monolayer adsorption capacities (q max ) were estimated as 2.77 mg g −1 . A constant of the energy (K L ) for Li was calculated as 0.35 L g −1 . The optimum pH value for quantitative sorption of Li ions was found between 5.0 and 7.0. The preconcentration factor was found as 40 for 200 mL aqueous solution containing 5 μg Li ions. The developed method was successfully applied to some water samples.

The crosslinked copolymers of N‐vinylpyrrolidone with 1,4‐(N,N′‐bismaleimido)benzol and with trimethoxyvinylsilane were synthesized by free radical copolymerization. The copolymers were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy and thermal analysis. The values of specific surface area and porosity of the copolymers were determined with use of low‐temperature adsorption. Sorption capacity of the copolymers toward Re (VII), Mo (VI), and W(VI) ions was investigated and was found to depend strongly on the pH. A possibility to separate Re(VII) and Mo(VI) ions with use of the copolymers under investigation in their combined presence in neutral and alkaline media was shown. Moreover, in the conjoined presence of Mo(VI) and W(VI) ions at pH 5–14, tungsten(VI) can be separated from molybdenum(VI) with the copolymer of N‐vinylpyrrolidone with trimethoxyvinylsilane. POLYM.
