Abstract:Levels of sTREM-1 correlated with sepsis severity. sTREM-1 is considerably higher in patients with shock compared to patients without shock. The serum of shocked patients could stimulate the expression of TREM-1 on U937 monocytes.
“…Some patients of this cohort have been included in previous publications [21,22]. All patients fulfilled the criteria of sepsis, as established by the American College of Chest Physicians/Society of Critical Care Medicine consensus conference [23].…”

“…[15] A study found that sTREM-1 concentration was significantly lower at admission in non-survivors than in survivors. [16] In our study, plasma sTREM-1 concentration in the early course was higher in the sepsis group than in the SIRS group and control group, and sTREM-1 concentration was higher in the survivors than in the non-survivors. The area under the ROC curve of sTREM-1 was 0.935; if sTREM-1> 135 pg/mL was set as the best threshold, there were a sensitivity of 93.8% and a specifi city of 84.7% in the diagnosis of sepsis.…”
“…The same study also showed a progressive decline in sTREM levels as the clinical picture improved [41]. A positive correlation has been found between sTREM and SOFA scores, as well [44]. In a comparison study between procalcitonin, CRP and sTREM it was found that sTREM levels were significantly lower in non-survivors.…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
