Serum-Thyreoglobulinbestimmung zur Verlaufskontrolle bei Schilddrüsenkarzinom-Patienten

Abstract: Thyroglobulin concentrations were determined radioimmunologically in the sera of 53 patients operated for thyroid carcinoma. 37 patients without metastases or recurrence had either very low (up to maximally 15 ng/ml) or non-demonstrable thyroglobulin concentrations, whereas 16 patients with metastases showed values of more than 40 ng/ml up to maximal values of more than 1000 ng/ml. In the majority of patients follow-up controls, in part up to 2 years, were performed. A far-reaching conformity of thyroglobulin … Show more

“…We could also confirm the general finding that plasma Tg is the most important parameter in the follow-up of these patients (Ashcraft & van Herle 1981;Black & Hoffenberg 1982;Botsch et al 1979;Charles et al 1980;Hüfner et al 1980;Jänsch et al 1981;Lo Gerfo et al 1979;Shlossberg et al 1979;Schlumberger et al 1981). The routine 131I follow-up scan with 2 mCi, however, seems of very limited value in detecting recurrences after a disease-free interval.…”

“…Numerous clinical studies have demonstrated the great sensitivity and reliability of this parameter in indicating métastases or a disease-free status (Botsch et al 1979;Charles et al 1980;Hüfner et al 1980;Jänsch et al 1981;Lo Gerfo et al 1977Shlossberg et al 1979;Schlumberger et al 1981). In recent years it has been recognized that the management of these patients is greatly improved by the use of plasma Tg measurements.…”

“…However, as low Tg concentrations cannot exclude the respective disorder, a routine Tg determination seems not to be justified in benign thyroid diseases. (2,4,(7)(8)(9)14). Als weitere Indikationen zur Tg-Bestimmung werden die Fragen nach einer kindlichen Athyreose, einer Schilddrüsenektopie sowie angeborenen Hormonsynthesestörungen genannt (4,20).…”

“…Some authors recommend its use for check-up studies, and perform whole-body scanning in cases with elevated TG levels only (2,10,16,31,60). Others (1,14,23,29,56) are more careful and consider both procedures to be complementary; some of them even suggest that the TG value does not influence their decision at all (18,19,22,33,42).…”
