“…We believe that the university training of future teachers should include the maximum content on human diversity, including sexual diversity. In this latter field, teacher training should primarily: (1) disassociate human sexuality from reproduction and animal sexuality; instead of grounding the acceptance of sexual relations on biology or nature, it should be grounded on ethics (Rainville, 1988); (2) provide information on the diversity of sex roles (Bem, 1974(Bem, , 1981 and sexual behaviours in human beings (Kinsey et al, 1948(Kinsey et al, , 1953; (3) provide information on the diversity of sexual behaviours in nature (Bagemihl, 1999); and (4) study the myths and history of human sexuality (Aldrich, 2006). This training would allow future teachers to grasp that sexual relations between people of the same sex are not against nature and would show that sexual diversity is as universal and natural as humanity itself.…”

“…While sexual dysfunctions were or were not being addressed in psychoanalysts' offices across North American and Europe in the mid-20th century, Alfred Kinsey' s exhaustive surveys of sexual behavior in American men and women confirmed the high prevalence of sexual difficulties, at least in men (Kinsey et al, 1948(Kinsey et al, , 1953. More importantly, his data pointed to the sexual conflict with which mid-century Americans were living, many of them engaging in behaviors that were culturally unacceptable.…”
