Shaping ability and cleaning effectiveness of Mtwo versus coated and uncoated EasyShape instruments in severely curved root canals of extracted teeth

Abstract: Under the conditions of this study, all instruments maintained the original canal curvature well. The use of Mtwo instruments resulted in good canal cleanliness. PVD-coating of EasyShape instruments had no impact on their shaping ability but improved their cleaning effectiveness.

“…Testing of fracture was carried out in a blinded manner to minimize bias. During canal instrumentation, only NaOCl was used for irrigation to avoid the potential impact of different irrigation solutions on dentin removal and fracture resistance as suggested in several previous studies (105)(106)(107)(108). The teeth were loaded without restoration of the endodontic cavities to avoid the confounding effects of enamel and dentin bonding restorative materials.…”

“…Due to the fact that the counterclockwise angle is greater than the clockwise one, it is claimed that the instrument continuously progresses toward the terminus of the root canal. Both instruments have been evaluated in preliminary studies 22,23,26,[28][29][30][31][32] and the results regarding lifespan, cyclic fatigue resistance, shaping ability and cleaning efficiency were satisfactory.…”
