“…The increase of Tuber cf. puberulum with liming observed in other studies (Taylor et al, 1992;Veerkamp et al, 1997;Taylor and Finlay, 2003) may be in accordance with the increase in ectomycorrhizal fungi belonging to the order Pezizales (which includes the genus Tuber) found in the present study. Also in accordance with the present study, several earlier studies found that the abundance of Russula and Lactarius species decreased with liming (Wiklund et al, 1995;Agerer et al, 1998; the 8.75 ton ha À1 treatment in Jonsson et al, 1999;Taylor and Finlay, 2003).…”

“…The increase of the two Atheliaceae species, A. byssoides, T. asterophora and of Elaphomyces sp., with liming is similar to earlier results (Taylor et al, 1992;Veerkamp et al, 1997;Taylor and Finlay, 2003). The increase of Tuber cf.…”

“…Interestingly, increased abundance of A. byssoides after liming was also found in dead wood substrates (Veerkamp et al 1997). By contrast, ECM fungal species from genera Tylospora, Lactarius and Russula dominated in control plots.…”

“…Stress conditions can explain the abundance of C. geophilum, which is a stress-tolerant species, in the analyzed plots (Lobuglio, 1999). The limestone-rich soils of the analyzed sites developed on permocarbon deposits account for the presence of ECM A. byssoides, which is known to increase in abundance after liming of otherwise acidic sites in pine forests (Veerkamp et al, 1997). However, Russula and Lactarius spp, cosmopolitan and widespread in the northern hemisphere (Dickie and Moyersoen, 2008), particularly at more acidic sites (Rineau et al, 2010), were not present in ECM P. crassifolia.…”
