The slowing of heart rate as noted by Rothlin (1944) was shown to be partly inhibited by atropine by Wilkins et al (1949). This slowing may be due to the property possessed by ergot alkaloids of inactivating cholinesterase; it is possible that it is due to central nervous depression.…”
