Silicone/silica nanocomposites as culture‐stone protective materials

Abstract: The water absorption ratio of the cementbased material culture stone was reduced obviously by the addition of composite additives of silica AS-40 with a nanoparticle size, hydroxyl polysiloxane emulsion, and waterbased methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS); its surface exhibited hydrophobicity and a certain acid resistance. Furthermore, both of the culture stones treated by two hybrid coatings prepared from the sol-gel reaction of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) with MTMS and TEOS with MTMS and octyltrimethoxysilane (OTMS), … Show more

“…This is because, on the one hand, increasing content of HPPS in the modied ACP binder helps to increase the compactness of the bonded solid lubricating coatings thereby affording improved corrosion resistance. On the other hand, HPPS is hydrophobic 36 and can promote the hydrophobicity of the coatings, which also favors to improve the corrosion resistance of the coatings.…”

“…Because of their large specific surface area, high porosity, and tunable mechanical properties, nanofibers have broad application in many fields, including bioengineered structures, air and water filtration, electronics, drug delivery, fuel cells, biomedical tissue engineering, building materials, and smart clothing . However, nanofibers produced by traditional methods present some problems, including their toxic solvents and low output.…”
