Silver Complexes of Dihalogen Molecules

Abstract: The perfluorohexane-soluble and donor-free silver compound Ag(A)( A = Al(OR F ) 4 ;R F = C(CF 3 ) 3 )p repared using af acile novel route has unprecedented capabilities to form unusual and weakly bound complexes.H ere,w er eport on the three dihalogen-silver complexes Ag(Cl 2 )A,Ag(Br 2 )A, and Ag(I 2 )A derived from the soluble silver compound Ag(A) (characterized by single-crystal/powder XRD,Raman spectra, and quantum-mechanical calculations).

“… 647 Dibromine and dichlorine complexes remained unknown. However, very recently, 648 the use of the very weakly coordinating solvent perfluorohexane and one of the weakest anions [Al(OR PF ) 4 ] – led to the isolation of the first dichlorine and dibromine complexes [Ag(X 2 )] + (X = Cl, Br, also I) ( Fig. 96 ).…”

“…As inferred from previous studies on WCAs, each basic dye requires a different counteranion to effectively enhance its solubility, even if the molecular structures of the dyes are similar to one another141617. Basic Blue 26 shows inferior solubility after being modified with WCAs when compared to other dyes.…”

“…Chemische Oxidation von 1 a mit dem Ag + /0.5 l 2 System [35, 36] führt, wie oben beschrieben, zu dem [Ni(C 6 H 6 ) 2 ] 2+ Dikation. Das Dikation besitzt 20 VE, einen Triplett‐Grundzustand und ist isoelektronisch zum früher publizierten [Co(C 6 H 6 ) 2 ] + [8] .…”
