Simple fabricating PCB-based inter digital capacitor for glucose biosensor

Abstract: Abstract. This paper presents the simple fabrication of interdigital capacitor (IDC) using print circuit board (PCB) for glucose biosensor. PCB type FR04 laminated with Cu as electrode was used as sensor base. The IDC pattern of sensor was designed by computer aided design program and printed with a laser printer on plastic polymers. Then, the IDC pattern was transferred into PCB by a laminating machine. The etching process of PCB was done by immersing in ferric chloride liquid to form Cu pattern. There were f… Show more

“…Hence, in this paper we present the electrochemical and surface characteristics of the sensing electrodes as received by the manufacturer and also after our surface treatment process. Glucose oxidase is subsequently covalently immobilized on the chemically pre-treated, Au plated working electrodes, as opposed to previously presented PCB-implemented glucose sensors [10][11][12][13], resulting in a lower limit of detection of 500 µM.…”

“…The samples were then degassed again before being left to cure at room temperature for 8 hours. The design of the IDC sensors was based on [6], [7]. For the IDC, the total capacitance is equal to the sum of the capacitances of the unit cells, and is calculated using the following:…”

“…To date, large-volume liquid-level measuring instruments use the interdigital electrode sensor mainly based on their capacitive property [34][35][36][37][38][39]. Generally, this type of sensor is bonded up to a few kHz operational frequency measurement.…”
