“…The MS was operated in the positive mode and capillary voltage was 4500 V. All analytes were quantified in multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode with transitions of m/z 320.2 to 292.2 for coptisine, m/z 352.3 to 336.3 for palmatine, and m/z 366.3 to 350.2 for dehydrocorydaline [95]. In addition to the specific chemical compounds in the traditional Chinese herbal drugs, pharmacokinetic evaluations of the decoctions and other formulations were also carried out by LC-MS/MS coupled with TQ-MS [46][47][48][50][51][52][53][54][55][56][57][58] for substances such as Zuojinwan [46], Erhuang decoction [47], Jinqi Jiangtang tablets [48], Gegenqinlian decoction [50], Shuanghua Baihe tablets [51][52][53], Zi-Shen pills [56], and Banxia xiexin decoction [57]. Mass spectrometric detection was performed on different types of TQ-MS, including the Thermo Finnigan TSQ Quantum TQ-MS [46,55], API 3200 TQ-MS [48], API 4000 TQ-MS [52,53], Agilent 6410 TQ-MS [50], and Varian 320 TQD MS [54].…”

“…The LC-MS has also been used in pharmacokinetic studies of these acids following the administration of herbal drugs to rats and humans. For example, one such study used the LC-MS/MS method to simultaneously determine phenolic acids and their metabolites in human plasma following the ingestion of instant coffee containing various chlorogenic and phenolic acids; the study used protein precipitation to prepare samples [ 31 ]. The negative [ 24 , 26 , 28 , 29 , 30 , 31 ] and positive [ 25 , 27 ] electrospray ionization (ESI) modes were used for the ionization of phenolic acids in mass spectrometry.…”

“…It consists of three herbal medicines Coptis chinensis, Astragalus membranaceus, and Lonicera japonica, which has been widely used in clinical practice to prevent and treat type 2 diabetes in China for decades [16]. Many efforts have been made to identify bioactive compounds and clarify the anti-diabetes mechanism for the comprehensive understanding of its therapeutic effects [17][18][19]. However, little was known about its Q-markers associated with anti-diabetes bioactivity.…”
