“…[44] Peaks at 1105 cm À1 and at approximately 1260-1300 cm À1 corresponding to SiÀOÀC [40] and SiÀOÀC(=O), [45] respectively, are absent. In comparison to silica, composites with a higher concentration of GO show broadening of the peak at 960 cm À1 and the appearance of a new peak at 615 cm À1 .…”

“…The peak at 615 cm À1 may be attributed to a-cristobalite. [44] Peaks at 1105 cm À1 and at approximately 1260-1300 cm À1 corresponding to SiÀOÀC [40] and SiÀOÀC(=O), [45] respectively, are absent. This clearly indicates there is no direct SiÀOÀC bond from silica to graphene.…”

“…Due to the inertness of diatoms' biosilica, a covalent modification of its surface was also carried out to develop technologically more suitable materials for energy production or optoelectronics. For example, a simultaneous functionalization and reduction of graphene oxide (GO) with diatom frustules, was employed to realize a reduced GO–biosilica composite that was proposed as an electrode in sensing cationic biomolecules . The hydroxyl and carboxylic moieties present in GO and the silanol (SiOH) and siloxane (SiOSi) groups in diatom silica were employed for the formation of the SiOC bond by a direct esterification reaction and simultaneous reduction.…”

“…The components were mixed in a boiling ask and reuxed for 24 h at 100 C. The zeolite was washed aer 24 h with absolute ethanol, centrifuged, and dried at 100 C. This method was based on a published method. 14 Dip coating method. A dip coating device was designed out of a 15 mL test tube, a rod, and a plankton bucket net (0.008 mm  0.012 mm).…”
