“…During the 96-h exposure to Cu 2+ , the MDA content in the liver and gill tissues of the wild-type group tended to increase, indicating that Cu 2+ induced lipid oxidation in both hepatocytes and gill cells. Similar results have reported in studies on other fish such as Channa punctata , Paralichthys olivaceus , and Gobiocypris rarus (Pandey et al, 2008; Cao et al, 2010; Wu et al, 2019). The enhanced antioxidant enzyme activities in the liver and gill tissues of the wild-type group at 48 h of exposure to Cu 2+ alleviated oxidative damage; however, damage to the liver and gill tissues had increased by 96 h of Cu 2+ exposure.…”

“…In our study, excessive V elevated the levels of H 2 O 2 , MDA, and CAT, but increased T-SOD activity at 22 days and decreased at 44 days. According to the previous study, the antioxidant enzyme activities were enhanced but decreased after a while when the body suffered different degrees of oxidative damage (42,43). Therefore, the changes of T-SOD activity might be related to the oxidative damage's intensity and time, which is higher at slight or transitory damage, opposite lower.…”

“…Similar to this study, refs. [47] and [48] suggested that Cd toxicity induces an elevation in SOD and CAT activities in the liver of zebra blenny, Salaria basilisca, and in the gills of the rare minnow Gobiocypris rarus. They suggested that the elevated SOD and CAT activities were responses to the excessive generation of ROS triggered by Cd toxicity, and [32] suggested that Cd toxicity significantly increases SOD and CAT activities in the liver and gills of P. olivaceus.…”
