Single-Piece All-Solid-State Potential Ion-Selective Electrodes Integrated with Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs) for Neutral 2,4-Dichlorophenol Assessment

Abstract: A novel single-piece all-solid-state ion-selective electrode (SC/ISE) based on carbon-screen printed is introduced. Polyaniline (PANI) is dissolved in a membrane cocktail that contains the same components used for making a conventional ion-selective polyvinyl chloride (PVC) matrix membrane. The membrane, having the PANI, is directly drop-casted on a carbon substrate (screen-printed-carbon electrode). PANI was added to act as an intermediary between the substrate and the membrane for the charge transfer process… Show more

“…Nowadays, all-solid-state potentiometric electrodes have attracted great interest in ion sensing for diverse applications such as clinical and environmental elds due to their outstanding properties such as high portability, simplicity of use, affordability and exibility. [34][35][36][37][38] They are now recognized as the next generation for ion-sensing potentiometric electrodes. When the ion-sensing membrane is directly casted on the electronic conductor (i.e.…”

“…These ionophores are characterized by their high cost, or using ion exchangers, and characterized by their poor selectivity. On the other hand, MIPs are thermally stable, costly effective, and easier to synthesize [16,17]. Currently, potentiometric sensors based on different MIP receptors have been synthesized for determination of different organic species in either their ionic or neutral forms [16,[18][19][20].…”

Currently, potentiometric sensors based on different MIP receptors have been synthesized for determination of different organic species in either their ionic or neutral forms [16,[18][19][20]. Few reports are presented in the literature for imprinted synthetic receptors for deoxycholate [21,22].…”

“…This reveals serious limits to their wide use, especially in less developed countries. For cost-effectiveness, fast, accessible and precise analysis, simple instrumentation, and incorporated functionality, screen-printed ISEs have been chosen for flexible, reliable and low-cost platforms for potentiometric analytical devices [24][25][26]. In addition, this type of electrode offers a practical viable method without sample pretreatment, prolonged analysis time and sophisticated experimental establishment.…”
