Six-year Clinical Evaluation of Packable Composite Restorations

Abstract: A Kiremitci • T Alpaslan • S Gurgan Clinical RelevanceAs a posterior composite, Filtek P60 exhibited very good clinical performance in Class II cavities for six years. Methods: A total of 47 restorations were placed in the Class II cavity preparations (27 premolars and 20 molars) of 33 patients (22 female/11 male; mean age 34) by the same operator. The restorations were evaluated by two examiners at baseline and 1, 2, 3 and 6 years according to the method developed by Ryge, which also is known as the United St… Show more

“…The superior behavior of P60 has been demonstrated in a study conducted by Kiremitci and others 19 In their clinical study, the clinical performance of P60 was acceptable after six years of service. Regarding marginal adaptation and discoloration, 95% and 91% of P60 restorations, respectively, received an Alpha rating.…”

“…Good adhesion has been ascribed as the primary factor for enhancing the long-term sealing of the cavity margin, thereby protecting the restoration against secondary caries [1][2][3] . However, replacement of restorations due to secondary caries is still a prevalent problem in restorative dentistry.…”
