Skin dose estimation in adults undergoing diagnostic chest X-ray examinations at Al-Zahra Teaching Hospital in Wasit Governorate, Iraq

This research aims at identifying the reality of distribution efficiency of the large and medium industrial facilities construction in Baghdad University Moreover, liquid industrial waste contaminated water, the source of the waste in it and its specifications. That the public industrial efficiency of large and medium industries in Baghdad Governorate and its trends appeared in response to the standard variance of number of employees and value added, moreover large and medium industries increased the environment pollution and caused harm to its elements, as the environment related studies showed that there are severe pollution cases in some material, with high percentage which are considered risk to public health such as lead, sulfur, mercury, carbon dioxide, and other solid and liquid materials that are emitted from industrial facilities in Baghdad Governorate. , its environmental impacts, analysis of this efficiency, and extract the conclusions through the reply to the research problem represented in the variation in the level of efficiency of the large and medium industries sector and their environmental impacts in Baghdad Governorate in addition to the fact that it doesn’t reflect the real fact of the medium and large industries inherited in it, through axes, the first one addresses the reality of the industrial indicators of the large and medium industries in Baghdad, and its geographical distribution, the industrial activities branches, its construction in Baghdad in 2023, while the second axe addresses the efficiency of the large and medium industries (economic, social, productive), its spatial trends at the district level and according to industrial branches , whereas, the third axis addresses the Air pollutants resulted from large and medium industries that are existing in Baghdad, the gaseous and particulate emissions resulted thereof. Research concluded to a set of conclusions such as the variation among large and medium industries in terms of industrial indicators in Baghdad Governorate.

Radon dust was measured in 15 samples Results: The mass of radon in potable water from Baghdad Governorate markets ranged from 3.5 (Bq/m3) to 74 (Bq/m3) with a mean value of 26.6 ±25.311 (Bq/m3). illustrated The annual effective dose (Ed) results for each group (3 months, 10 years, 15 years, and adults). The Ed values for the 3-month age group range from 0.10 to 0.88 μSv/year. as seen for the 10-year age group they range from 0.02 to 0.96 μSv/year; as seen for the 15-year age group they range from 0.13 to 0.98 μSv/year and as seen for the adult age group they range from 0.07 to 0.92 μSv/year Results indicated that the content of radon- 222 in healthy drinking water in Baghdad's market was within permissible limits set by the World Health Organization in 2008 and United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation in 2000. The annual effective dose of drinking water for infants in Baghdad's market is also within these limits.

Alpha radioactivity in Iraqi market foodstuff: Assessing annual effective dose and lifetime cancer risk

In this study, integrated passive radon dosimeters with solid-state nuclear trace detectors (CR-39 and CN-85) were used to determine the annual effective dose and excess cancer risk for 25 different food samples in the Iraqi market. The dosimeters were deployed after four weeks of the required radiological equilibrium between radon and radium in the samples stored in sealed beakers. These caps were then quickly replaced with other caps equipped with detectors and stored for 70 days. After the detectors were removed from the samples, an electrochemical etching process was performed in a water bath and sodium hydroxide solution to reveal the traces of alpha particles on the detector surface. Microscopic observations were performed using an optical microscope to quantify the traces present on the detector surface. The results showed that the average radon concentrations for the CR-39 detectors ranged from 3.80 to 7.32 Bq/kg, with an average of 5.51 Bq/m3, and for the CN-85 detectors ranged from 1.23 to 4.51 Bq/kg, with an average of 2.79 Bq/kg. The radium and uranium concentrations for the CR-39 detector ranged from 0.299 to 0.577 Bq/kg, with an average of 0.434 Bq/kg, and from 3.72 to 7.17 Bq/kg, with an average of 5.40 Bq/kg. Comparing all the results between the two detectors, it was found that the values recorded with the CR-39 were approximately twice those recorded with the CN-85. It is important to note that all recorded values are within internationally permissible limits and do not pose a threat to human health.
