“…Perovskite-structured materials featured as the formula ABO 3 are an important class of piezoelectrics. [77][78][79] Taking the most typical perovskite BaTiO 3 as a representative, the displacement of Ti atoms from the central position of TiO 6 octahedron induces the presence of spontaneous polarization (p 0 ) (Figure 5a). When external stress is applied, the piezoelectric polarization changed the original charge distribution, which enhanced or reduced the charge flow.…”

“…The good linear correlation between piezoelectric coefficients and catalytic rate constant was found in the study of piezocatalytic degradation over Sm doped Pb(Mg 1/3 Nb 2/3 )O 3 ‐PbTiO 3 (Figure 11b,c). [ 78 ] Similarly, the d 33 value of orthorhombic (K,Na)NbO 3 nanorods (NRs) increased to 360 pm V −1 after annealing at 800 °C, which is nearly three times higher than that of the unannealed samples. The superior piezoelectricity in (K,Na)NbO 3 was a result of passivating the oxygen vacancies (OVs) and building orthorhombic‐tetragonal phase boundaries.…”

“…ROS further decomposes dye molecules ˙OH into simpler products [4][5][6]. Piezocatalysis has been mainly reported for organic pollutant degradation [7]. ZnO [8], MoS 2 [9], NaNbO 3 [10], and PbTiO 3 [11], BaTiO 3 [12] etc., have already been reported for piezocatalytic applications.…”

“…23,30,31 This is remarkable, since several studies of the related piezocatalysis have shown a strong increase of piezocatalytic activity through such a remanent alignment of ferroelectric dipoles inside ferroelectric particles. [32][33][34] In this work, the influence of the particle size on the pyrocatalytic activity of BaTiO 3 powder (BT) catalysts containing nanoparticles with nominal particle sizes of 100, 200 and 500 nm was investigated. It was shown under directly comparable conditions that the pyrocatalytic activity of BT catalysts correlates mainly with their BET surface area.…”
