Smoking-induced subgingival dysbiosis precedes clinical signs of periodontal disease

Abstract: Smoking accelerates periodontal disease and alters the subgingival microbiome. However, the relationship between smoking-associated subgingival dysbiosis and progression of periodontal disease is not well understood.
