Going beyond the limitations of technology, time, and platform lifecycles, achieving long‐term preservation of social media collective memory is an important issue. As a social action involving multiple stakeholders, social media preservation faces a complex problem space. Taking China as an example, this study revealed, from the perspective of stakeholders, the underlying logic of cultural, ethical, legal, and other issues that social media preservation encounters, namely, the tension arising from differences in stakeholders' interests and power inequalities. We specifically investigated and analyzed five categories of stakeholders and revealed six tensions among them in the power/interest matrix. In the final discussion, we analyzed what proactive and inclusive preservation actions should be. Our research not only contributes to the development of theories for social media preservation in information science but also provides clues for state regulators and memory institutions to make responsible and inclusive decisions.

Death is an inevitable part of life and highly relevant to information management: its approach often requires preparation, and its occurrence often demands a response. Many works in information science have acknowledged so much, and yet death is rarely a focused topic, appearing instead sporadically and disconnected across research. As a result there is no introduction to, overview of, or synthesis across studies on death and information. We therefore conducted an extensive literature search and reviewed nearly 300 scholarly publications at the intersection of death and information (and data) management. Covering seven topics in total, we review two groups of work directly engaging information management in relation to death (digital possessions, inheritance, and legacy; information behavior, needs, and practices around death), three engaging death and technology that require information and its management (death and the Internet, thanatosensitive design and technology‐augmented death practices, and the digital afterlife and digital immortality), and two reflecting the ethical and legal dimensions unique to death and information. We then integrate the collective findings to summarize the landscape of death‐related information research, outline remaining challenges for individuals, families, institutions, and society, and identify promising directions for future information science research.

YouTube platform provides paid/ unpaid video services for different users for promotions, education, learning, information sharing, etc. Accessing this platform's content/ channel-based advancements is based on user identification through registration/ credential sharing. In recent years, accessing information through fake accounts has increased other users' illegitimacy and security demands. The article introduces a temporal behavioral method (TBM) using the classified learning (CL) technique to address the impact of fake users on YouTube-like platforms. The proposed method eyes on user credentials, interactions, and access information under different usage series. The data used for the classification learning identifies the active, inactive, and false searches/ information accessed by the user. With the recent meetings removed, the static and inaccurate searches are segregated using the learning process from the last known access session. Rather than applying new rules to the identified account/user, false user flagging reported data sharing and illegitimacy is all avoided. Based on the different session logins and the recommendations by the learning process, the fraudulent users are restricted from communicating with other users and legitimate information. Maximizing data sharing and user detection is facilitated by the better recognizability afforded by the prolonged inactive session categorization following in succession. The suggested TBM-CL strategy addresses the impact of fake users on YouTube-like platforms and increases the maximums for user detection (14.93%), information sharing (11.3%), and classifications (15.93%) across all sessions. It decreases the erroneous ratio by 8.03% and the delay by 9.07% based on the dataset.
