Soft Computing in Smart Grid with Decentralized Generation and Renewable Energy Storage System Planning

Abstract: Distributed Power Generation and Energy Storage Systems (DPG-ESSs) are crucial to securing a local energy source. Both entities could enhance the operation of Smart Grids (SGs) by reducing Power Loss (PL), maintaining the voltage profile, and increasing Renewable Energy (RE) as a clean alternative to fossil fuel. However, determining the optimum size and location of different methodologies of DPG-ESS in the SG is essential to obtaining the most benefits and avoiding any negative impacts such as Quality of Powe… Show more

“…Their attempt to design a purpose-oriented energy-saving methodology based on RL helped manage the HVAC systems efficiently. An online optimization of the BEMS system was proposed by [19][20]. They designed a DRL-based BEMS with Deep Q-learning and evaluated the model using the Pecan Street Inc. database.…”

“…Understanding and accurately modelling these probabilities is essential for predicting the system's behavior in response to various control actions, enabling the DRL agent to make informed decisions to optimise energy efficiency and occupant comfort. The transition probability function can be expressed as EQU (19).…”

“…Developing nations have a rare chance to skip conventional energy routes and choose cutting-edge, cleaner technology. Decentralised energy systems can become more energy efficient and resilient by adopting distributed renewable energy systems, smart grids, and energy storage technologies, for instance [54]. Additionally, the demand-side response is made possible by digital technologies, data analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT), which can also improve energy conservation [55].…”

“…Microgrid Power Quality governing strategies are often implemented using a combination of rule-based, model-based, and optimization-based techniques (Resener et al, 2020). Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the foremost fields that have gained popularity during this decade for its ability to solve complex problems in complex situations (Trivedi et al, 2022;Abdulkader et al, 2023). These AI approaches like Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) (Venkata Anjani Kumar and Damodar Reddy, 2023), Fuzzy Logic (FL) and Genetic Algorithms (GA) etc.…”
