“…The German botanist Bitter (1911–1913), using the position of the pedicel articulation and the structure of cell hairs as criteria for his classification, divided section Tuberarium into two subsections: Basarthrum and Hyperbasarthrum (which included the majority of the tuber‐bearing species and a few without stolons or tubers because of their morphological resemblance).
