“…There has been an increasing incidence of the tumor in the extrapleural, extraserosal sites such as the lung, liver, breast, meninges and in the head and neck region [2]. The real incidence of SFTs of the orbit is not clear, but these tumors have been increasingly recognized ever Fig.…”

“…2 a, b MRI of the orbit showed an ill-defined, heterogenous mixed intensity lesion in the upper part of the left orbit involving the extraconal, conal and intraconal compartments since its initial description in 1994. The various locations of orbital SFT include the intraconal and extraconal spaces of the orbit, [2] lacrimal gland, lacrimal sac and eyelid. The tumour in our patient was found to be arising from the pigmented outer layer of pars plana of the ciliary body.…”

“…Other tumors like schwannoma, neurofibroma and lymphoma show less noticable enhancement compared to SFT. 8 Major histopathological differential diagnosis of orbital SFT includes hemangiopericytoma, schwannoma, fibrous histiocytoma, leiomyoma, leiomyosarcoma and optic nerve sheath meningioma. Although they have overlapping morphological features, a clear distinction can be made among these tumors with immunohistochemical analysis.…”

“…SFT have also been found in numerous extrapleural sites, including the extracranial head and neck regions (1)(2)(3) . Moreover, SFTs arising from the larynx are extremely rare; most have occurred in the supraglottic larynx (4)(5)(6) .…”
