Solubility and Thermodynamic Modeling of Dimethyl Terephthalate in Pure Solvents and the Evaluation of the Mixing Properties of the Solutions

Abstract: In this work, the solubility of dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) in alcohols (methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, i-propanol, n-butanol, and i-butanol), esters (ethyl acetate, i-propyl acetate, n-propyl acetate, n-butyl acetate, n-amyl acetate, and methyl propionate), ketones (acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, and cyclohexanone), acetonitrile, and chloroform was experimentally determined. The solubility of DMT in these solvents follows the order: chloroform > esters and ketones > acetonitrile > alcohols and increases with … Show more

“…A detailed description of the technique can be found in the literature. 4,15 During the experiments, the temperature of the solution was controlled by circulation of water from a super thermostat (Type 501A, Shanghai Experimental Instrument Factory Co., Ltd) and measured using a thermometer with an uncertainty of 0.05 K. To ensure the uniformity, the solution in the flask was continuously stirred using a magnetic stirrer (Scilogex MS7-H550-Pro) with dimensions of Φ7 × 25 mm at a speed of 400 rpm.…”

“…The solubility data of AMT have been regressed with 5 models. In order to evaluate the goodness of the regressions, relative average deviation (RAD) and root-mean-square deviation (RMSD) are employed as indexes, which are defined as eqs 13 and 14: 15,16…”
