“…Unlike the other ones, the curves acquired in the case of H 3 PO 4 , have remarkable maxima at the initial (6e8) minutes of polarization, revealing intensive nonstationary processes during the initial polarization period. The remarkable sharp R p rise, (up to approximately 4 kU cm À2 ) can be ascribed to the sealing of the aluminum matrix by insoluble AlPO 4 xH 2 O, as is proposed by Brosheer [36], accompanied by coincident formation of insoluble Copper (II) phosphate [37] and even formation of spinel structures [38] with participation of the Cu containing S-and q-phases and the less active Fe containing minor inclusions. The subsequent reversion of the curve until the 15th minute and the following inflections can be explained, keeping in mind that the combination between the applied anodic current and the strong acidity of the medium result in dissolution of the initially formed phosphate containing oxide passivation layer.…”

“…1), aluminum phosphate is considerably more soluble than the corresponding ferric salt (Brosheer et al 1954;Ishio et al 1986;Fankem et al 2008). Similarly, according to He et al (2006), in 0.322 mM KH 2 PO 4 solution, the addition of FeCl 3 or AlCl 3 (3.22 mM) in 100 mM acetate buffer (at pH 5.0, 22°C) after 20 h precipitates 60 % or only 5 % of soluble inorganic phosphate, respectively.…”
