“…All of the fluorinated liquids solvents used, perfluorohexylethane (CAS 26-43-74), C 6 F 13 C 2 H 5 ; perfluorooctane (CAS 307-34-6), C 8 F 18 ; 1-bromoperfluorooctane (or perfluorooctylbromide, CAS 423-55-2), C 8 F 17 Br; perfluorodecalin (CAS 306-94-5), C 10 F 18 ; perfluoromethylcyclo-hexane (CAS 355-02-2), C 6 F 11 CF 3 ; perfluoro-1,3-dimethylcyclohexane (CAS 335-27-3), C 6 F 10 (CF 3 ) 2 ; and perfluorophenanthrene (CAS 306-91-2), C 14 F 24 , were obtained from Pharmpur GmbH, Germany and are part of the samples used before by the authors [11]. Their mol/mol purities, as stated by the manufacturer, are 100% for C 6 F 13 C 2 H 5 , 99.4% for C 8 F 18 , 98.1% for C 8 F 17 Br, 98.7% for C 10 F 18 , 97.4% for C 6 F 11 CF 3 and 99.2% for C 6 F 10 (CF 3 ) 2.…”

Effect of bromine substitution on the solubility of gases in hydrocarbons and fluorocarbons

Solubility was measured using an isobaric saturation technique, described in previous publications [12,2], in which a known quantity of degassed solvent is put in contact with the pre-saturated (in the solvent's vapour) solute gas at constant temperature and pressure. The quantity of gas dissolved in the liquid is determined from the displacement of a cylinder inside a piston of accurately known diameter.…”
