Solvothermal Treatment of Visible‐Light‐Responsive TiO2 toward Enhanced Photocatalytic Degradation Activity of Tetracycline

Abstract: Photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants driven by visible‐light is considered as a promising and effective water purification strategy. In this work, solvothermal treatment was carried out on visible‐light‐responsive TiO2 samples in isopropyl alcohol to improve the photocatalytic degradation performance. The effects of solvothermal treatment on the microstructure, band structure, optical properties, photoelectrochemical properties and photocatalytic activity of the obtained TiO2 samples were systemati… Show more

“…The dissolved O 2 can be captured by the accumulated electrons in CB of CN to form an active species ·O 2 − (e − + O 2 → ·O 2 − ), which participates in photocatalytic TC degradation. 36 Meanwhile, the holes accumulated in the VB of LDH cannot react with H 2 O or OH − to form ·OH because the potential of H 2 O/·OH (1.99 eV vs. NHE) is more positive than the energy level of VB on LDH. Thus, the holes accumulated on the VB of LDH decomposes TC.…”

“…2,2,6,6-Tetramethylpiperidide (TEMP) serves as the capture reagent of 1 O 2 to generate a TEMP/ 1 O 2 adduct with a typical EPR intensity signal of 1:1:1 (Figure S21). However, the VB potential of the SDBSmodulated lanthanide polymer (E VB = 1.97 V vs NHE) is less positive than the oxidation potential of the OH/OH − oxidation potential (2.38 V vs NHE), 38,39 inferring that the photogenerated holes cannot oxidize OH − to generate •OH, its violations with EPR results. Therefore, in the process of photocatalytic ROS intermediates, it is speculated that the further reduced •O 2 − can be regarded as the source of •OH.…”
