Some plant fossils from the Gopad River Section near Nidpur, Sidhi District, Madhya Pradesh

Abstract: The paper deals with some plant fossils collected from three different exposures along the Gopad River Valley near Nidhpur, Sidhi District. The important elements of the assemblages are Sphenopteris sp., Glossopteris (8 spp.), Scutum sp., Vertebraria sp., Taeniopteris sp., Dicroidium (3 spp.) and a few scale- and seed-like bodies. On the basis of the contained plant fossils, the stratigraphic positions of the three exposures have been discussed.
