Some results of high‐flow‐velocity NMR imaging using selection gradient

Abstract: A simple and new flow velocity measurement technique using conventional spin-echo sequence is proposed and its applications to a preclinical result are presented. This technique utilizes the phase velocity encoding effect due to 180 degrees rf and its corresponding selection gradient. This phase encoding and its phase velocity relations have been obtained by numerical solution of the Bloch equation. A flow velocity measurement obtained with a volunteer using this proposed technique indicates close agreement wi… Show more

“…In this study, a second radiologist did confirm positive results and the authors believe, while this is not a formal test of reliability, it does show that both tests are certainly reliable for positive findings. Finally, we used a new technique for evaluation of patients with THA and possible pseudotumors (SEMAC), and because we did not also perform the MARS technique used by other authors [8,25], the two methods cannot be directly compared.…”

“…View angle tilting (VAT) [8] is a simple pulse sequence modification to spin echo imaging to reduce in-plane displacements. For both VAT and conventional sequences, parameters may also be adjusted to reduce artifacts.…”

“…From the early and mid-1980, superconducting magnet became available and began to obtain clinically usable images. First 2.0T* MRI became a reality in 1985 (KAIS 1985) and began to provide superior images with time limits that are acceptable to the clinical community and rapidly became the major diagnostic tool (4,5). In the mid-1990, sporadically 3.0T MRI became available and starts providing improved images in certain areas.…”
