“…The CPBA offers some advantages over previous methods, including the use of dexamethasone as a marker for cortisol localization on TLC sheets, the use of buffer instead of organic solvents to remove cortisol from silica gel and the speed of the radioassay (1-2 h). The specificity of the TLC-CPBA method is comparable with corresponding HPLC-RIA techniques [18,19]. The practicability of the TLC-CPBA seems better than that of a HPLC-RIA since cortisol is easily isolated and quantitatively separated from the silica gel in the TLC-CPBA method, and since the separation of cortisol by TLC is more rapid than by HPLC [20]: 10 samples are applied to plates within 70 minutes, and plates are developed within 30 rain.…”
