Specificity of scattering of ultrashort laser pulses by molecules with polyatomic structure

Abstract: The theory of scattering of ultrashort laser pulses (USP) is the basis of diffraction analysis of matter using modern USP sources. At present, the peculiarities of interaction of USP with complex structures are not well developed. In general, the research focuses on the features of the interaction of USP with simple systems, these are atoms and simple molecules. Here we present a theory of scattering of ultrashort laser pulses on molecules with a multi-atomic structure, taking into account the specifics of the… Show more

“…( 3) we obtained two important results. The first result is responsible for the necessity to use the theory of USP scattering on complex multi-atomic systems developed in this work and in [24,25] in the case of using attosecond pulses. We have shown that when using attosecond pulses, the previously well known XRD theory can carry significant errors and it is necessary to use the theory developed here.…”

“…If in this expression we take into account only the coherent USP scattering term (the second sum in Eq. ( 3)) and we take τ → ∞ away, we obtain the well-known expression for the scattering of long duration (monochromatic) X-rays [25]. Indeed, at τ → ∞ the expressions for p τ = 1 cτ (n − n 0 ) → 0 and Eq.…”

“…We will consider the USP as spatially inhomogeneous, i.e. the USP 85 electromagnetic field strength should be chosen as E(r, t) = E 0 h(t − n 0 r/c), where E 0 is 86 the field amplitude, h(t − n 0 r/c) is the arbitrary function defining the USP shape, c is energy USPs per unit solid angle in the unit frequency interval) can be represented as 92 [18,19,27,28] 93…”
