Spectral, NLO and antimicrobial studies of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of Schiff base ligands of 2-amino-6-nitrobenzothiazole

Abstract: Novel series of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) transition metal complexes were synthesized from the Schiff base ligands HL 1-HL 4 derived from 2-amino-6nitrobenzothiazole with various aromatic aldehydes, i.e., 4-methylbenzaldehyde, 4ethylbenzaldehyde, 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, respectively. The ligands HL 1-HL 4 and their metal (II) complexes were characterized by atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), magnetic susceptibility and molar conductance measurements, and UV-Vis, FT-IR and NMR spectr… Show more

“…The value of the effective magnetic moment of the complex indicates that the complex [Cu(3-aminophenol)4](NO3)2•6H2O was paramagnetic and has a pair of unpaired electrons. Complex [Cu(3-aminophenol)4](NO3)2•6H2O has similar magnetic properties with other Cu(II) complexes which have μeff values between 1.70-2.20 BM [12,13].…”

“…In complex [Ni2(L)(phen)2]Cl2, the weak d-d transition bands are not observed probably because the bands are lost in the low energy tail of intense charge transfer band [18,19], whereas, in cobalt complexes [Co2(HL)(dmphen)2Cl4], [Co2(HL)(phen)2Cl4] the d-d transitions ascertained at 640 and 617 nm, respectively. These bands are assigned as a 4 T1g(F)→ 4 A2g(F) transition [20], usually the octahedral complexes contain three bands, but here only one band is appeared.…”
