Spectrophotometric determination of paracetamol in drug formulations with 1 – naphthol

Abstract: Paracetamol with 1-Naphthol gave an azodye and the concentration of paracetamol was investigated spectrophotometrically. The dye formed with 1-Naphthol as a coupling agent followed Beer Lambert's law within the range of 2 -10 μgmL -1 of paracetamol at a lambda max (λmax) of 505nm. The molar absorptively of the azodye coupled with 1-Naphthol was found to be 1.6973×104 dm 3 mol -1 cm -1 , r 2 was 0.9974. P value was found to be 0.013 at 95% confidence. LOD was 0. 02 μgmL -1 while LOQ was 0. 10 μgmL -1 . The coup… Show more

“…19 Preparation of bacterial suspension was done as follows: making a bacterial suspension is done by measuring the results of bacteria that have been incubated using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 625 with an absorbance range of 0.08-0.12. 20 Inhibitory power test of nanoemulsion preparations was done as following; the test bacteria were inoculated as much as 100 μl into 20 ml of agar media in a petri dish then aseptically, the inoculated media was made with a hole of 8 mm. Comparative preparation of 1% antibiotic solution as a positive control, test samples of grape seed oil nanoemulsion and clove flower ethanol extract, grape seed oil nanoemulsion base were dropped 45 μl each in the wells that had been made in the test medium.…”

“…Dilutions of 0–45 μg/ml (at 5 μg/ml intervals) were prepared in double distilled water using the prepared stock (10 mg of drug in 2 ml of solvent). Then the absorbance of each sample at maximum wavelength was read using a UV–vis spectrophotometer ( Iorhemen et al, 2017 ). Then, the standard curve of each drug was drawn based on the obtained data.…”

“…These methods included HPLC [5][6][7],electrochemical [8,9], flow injection [10], and flurometric [11]. The spectrophotometric methods included various types of reactions such as diazotization of p-aminophenol resulted from hydrolysis of paracetamol then coupled with various coupling agent such as 4 [(2-amino-1, 3thiazol-4-yl) amino] nitrobenzene [12], histidine reagent in alkaline medium [13], 1-naphthol [14], 2, 7-dihydroxy naphthalene in alkaline medium [15], hydroxyl analog of the pharmaceutical naproxen [16], phloroacetophenone in an alkaline medium [17]. The oxidative coupling methods have been used with different reagent such as using N-(1-naphthyl) ethylendiamine dihydrochloride in presence of potassium iodate [18], chlorocresol in the presence of dissolved atmospheric oxygen and sodium carbonate [19] and 2, 5-di-hydroxy benzaldehyde in presence of potassium periodate as oxidizing agent [20], oxidation and bleaching color of dye: oxidation with N-bromosuccinimide and bleaching color of rifampicin [21], with bromosuccinimide and bleaching color of Eriochrom Black-T [22].…”
