Spectroscopic Characterisation of Metal Complexes with Tetradentate Ligand

Abstract: A Schiff's base containing tetradenticity N,N-bis-(3-hydroxyquinoxaline)-2-carboxidine-1,8-diaminenaphthalene, henceforth abbreviated as NBHCN, has been prepared by condensation of two moles of 3-hydroxyquinoxaline-2-carboxaldehyde with one mole of 1,8-diaminonaphthalene. This Schiff's base has been made to undergo complexation with Co(II) and Ni(II) metal ions. On the basis of their elemental analysis and molar conductivity values, the complexes have been formulated as [M(NBHCN)X 2 ] where X stands for water,… Show more

“…Mn(II) and Co(II) complexes are 5.84 and 4.90 B.M, this indicates high-spin. Mn(II) and Co(II) ions have five and three unpaired electrons in each compound’s respective outer valence shell [ 25 , 26 ]. The magnetic moment of the Cu(II) complex was 1.72 BM, which is consistent with an octahedral shape and one unpaired electron [ 27 ].…”

“…As for the Cu(II) complex, the analysis exhibited two principal bands centered at 27.548 and 35.211 nm, referring to both n→π* and π→π*. The different characteristic bands of Mn(II), Fe(III), Ni(II), and Cu(II) complexes appearing in the visible region have been assigned to d-d transitions typical of octahedral metal complexes [45,46].…”

“…The thermal decomposition of compounds 1-3 В спектрах дифузного відбиття сполук 1-3 відзначено дві смуги, які відповідають наступним переходам: 4 T 1g (F)→ 4 T 2g (1 -7250, 2 -7100, 3 -7300 см -1 ), 4 T 1g (F)→ 4 T 1g (P) (1 -13800, 2 -14200, 3 -14000 см -1 ). Це однозначно вказує на реалізацію октаедричної конфігурації поліедру кобальту [13,14].…”
