Spherical mirror testing by phase retrieval wavefront sensor

Abstract: In order to verify the estimated wavefront ability of the phase retrieval wavefront sensor (PRWS), a measured spherical mirror of experiment platform was set up with the method of PRWS. PRWS technology is based on the focal plane image information wavefront solver in the focal plane wavefront measured technology, whose principle is sampling a number of the given defocus images; get the wavefront phase information by solving the optical system wavefront with Fourier optical diffractive theory and mathematics op… Show more

“…free-form surfaces metrology [10][11][12][13]. As PR is a method of wave-front sensing and a simple experimental arrangement in optical metrology, it has been used in system measurement and alignment; it has, for example, been used in the Hubble Space Telescope and the James Webb Space Telescope [14,15].…”

“…In order to solve the problem of free-form optical surface metrology, we introduce a feasible non-contact measurement method called Phase Retrieval (PR), a high-precision method and an alternative to interferometry for optical testing, with the advantages of compactness, low-cost, and a stable system. PR has emerged as a potential solution for free-form surfaces metrology [10][11][12][13]. As PR is a method of wave-front sensing and a simple experimental arrangement in optical metrology, it has been used in system measurement and alignment; it has, for example, been used in the Hubble Space Telescope and the James Webb Space Telescope [14,15].…”

“…It has good application prospects in optical processing, system configuration, active optics, adaptive optics, and other fields, thus favored by experts. The main advantages of the PR measurement method are as follows (see Reference [ 18 ] for details): large dynamic range, high resolution, and high sensitivity. It can accurately calculate the surface of the mirror to be measured with small camera sampling points, which can achieve the equivalent accuracy of the interferometer.…”
