Spigelia L. (Loganiaceae), a newly recorded genus in China

Abstract: The neotropical species Spigelia anthelmia L. was firstly collected from China. Morphological characters are described and photographed in detail for further taxonomic identification. The species has become an invasive species in tropical Asia already, but not dispersed to the local ecosystem in Hainan yet, probably because of the short time of naturalization.

“…Notably, nomograms are accepted tools for quantifying risk factors, as extensively reported for different cancers. Liang et al 3 have built a prognostic nomogram based on general clinical parameters in NSCLC. In addition, Wang et al 27 have created a nomogram integrating clinicopathologic features and serum tumor marker levels in NSCLC.…”

“…To further simplify the nomogram, we established a new I-SSS by assigning values to different factors according to the score in the nomogram. By dividing the patients into different risk groups according to the total risk score (from highest to lowest), we determined the cutoff values 3 . Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was performed to compare the accuracy of I-SSS and TNM stage in predicting prognosis.…”

“…The American genus Spigelia Linneaus (1753, p. 149) is part of the strychnine family Loganiaceae, well represented in tropical America (Struwe et al 2018). Despite Spigelia being an American endemic genus, the widespread S. anthelmia Linneaus (1753, p. 149) has recently been indicated as invasive in tropical Africa and Asia (Desai and Raole 2013, Liang et al 2019). The genus is composed by herbs and subshrubs with opposite to pseudoverticillate leaves, with simple to stellate trichomes, with eucamptodromous, pinnipalmate or sometimes single‐nerved venation, usually monochasial‐scorpioid inflorescence and a typical asterid flower: actinomorphic, (4–)5‐lobed and usually attractive, with five stamens attached to the corolla tube and superior ovary (Struwe et al 2018).…”
