Spinning projectile’s attitude measurement using intersection ratio of magnetic sensors

Abstract: Concerning on the problem of low measuring precision of the current micro-inertial sensors, a novel attitude measurement method is proposed to dismiss the drift for remarkable attitude error. According to the output of the onboard three-axis magnetic sensor in the process of projectile flight, a low-cost attitude detection system is designed by using the intersection ratio of the sensor. First, the output model of the onboard three-axis magnetic sensor is established. The mathematical relationship between the … Show more

“…After the algorithm is verified, it is verified according to the data of the magnetic measurement system. With the three-axis magnetometer HMC1053 produced by Honeywell company as the only attitude sensing chip and the STM32 single chip microcomputer produced by ST Company as the controller, the control circuit was designed to constitute the magnetic attitude measurement system [21,22], and the magnetic measurement system was fixed on the three-axis highprecision flight simulation turntable, as shown in Figure 6. e control table rotates around the X-axis, Y-axis, and Zaxis, respectively, and the roll angle is calculated by using the magnetic measurement system, and the roll angle and the roll rotation rate are optimized and estimated by taking the magnetic measurement as the observation data.…”

“…Unfortunately, this kind of method is only suitable for the situation where the pitch and yaw angles change slowly. In [12], they derived the ratio of magnetometer extreme values to pitch angle by establishing an output model for triaxial magnetometer, thereby proposing the cross‐ratio method to determine the attitude of the projectile. Their method is simple in principle, but the pre‐calibration process is complicated, and the anti‐interference ability is poor.…”

“…However, the large volume of the satellite receiver is not suitable for the limited space of the projectile. The magnetometer based on the Earth’s magnetic field has the advantages of low cost, strong overload resistance, and all-weather operation [ 13 , 14 , 15 ]. On the one hand, the calibration of the magnetometer is complicated.…”
