Abstract:A 2-year-old girl presented with jaundice of 2 weeks' duration. Ultrasonography of the abdomen revealed ascites and a dilated common bile duct suggestive of a choledochal cyst. Tc-99m mebrofenin hepatobiliary imaging demonstrated findings consistent with a diagnosis of spontaneous rupture of a choledochal cyst. Timely surgical intervention yielded excellent results. A follow-up hepatobiliary scan 4-months after surgery revealed no abnormality.
“…Hepatobiliary scintigraphy is one of the most common imaging studies in the field of nuclear medicine 1–9 . An 18-year-old woman with vague, chronic postprandial abdominal discomfort underwent a hepatobiliary scintigraphy to evaluate possible biliary dyskinesia.…”
The gallbladder is normally located in the right upper abdomen below the undersurface of the liver. We reported an ectopically located gallbladder, which was located in the left upper abdomen on hepatobiliary scintigraphy in an 18-year-old woman.
