Background. Teenagers who are into sports seek information about their sport, including information about their idol athletes. Idol athletes use social media platforms to distribute information to build their brand image among their fans. One of the social media platforms currently widely used by teenagers as well as by athletes to establish the athletes’ brand is Instagram. One type of information about athletes spread on Instagram includes aspects of athletic performance. Referring to the athlete brand image model, they reveal that athletic performance contains elements of sportsmanship. Sportsmanship is a material embedded in sports education as well as an attitude that each adolescent should develop. Study purpose. The purpose of this study was to elicit an overview of the effect of exposure to information about athletic performance on social media as well as its relationship with idolizing and the formation of sportsmanship values within themselves, both expressed directly and through online media. Materials and methods. The respondents of this study were 580 adolescents who actively took part in sports activity units at their respective schools and universities. This study applied means to compare followed by simple regression analysis. Results. The results show that adolescents prefer information that contains elements of sportsmanship, and rivalry. Exposure to information related to athletic performance disseminated by athletes through social media affects adolescents’ idolizing attitudes. Idolizing attitude also affects adolescents’ sportsmanship shown directly, however, it does not significantly affect sportsmanship being expressed through social media. Conclusions. Adolescents in different sociodemographic categories have different preferences in selecting information related to athletic performance from their idolized athletes on social media. The formation of sportsmanship in adolescents can be supported by their exposure to information that is related to athletic performance.

Nowadays, world is characterized by a turbulent social life and total dependence on the new technologies. For this reason, an individual, that is, a man with the lost soul, is a good consumer of everything that is offered on the market. Sport is not spared, either. This is true not just for its elite and professional segment, but it applies equally so to an amateur and recreational sport. According to the rules of the New Age, in which an idea prevails that everything is permitted (to us), a special group of athletes has been created, who have been assigned the role of an idol. Thus, they become the object of worship and the images of the neopagan deities. These sports idols have (at least) two important roles: (1) to assist the achievement of (too) large profits for sports clubs and sports associations, and (2) to blur the image of the real world we live in. This applies both to the region in which we live, and to all the other parts of the world. Sports idolatry is everywhere, and it acts similarly.

Gender equality means giving equal opportunities to all people, when it comes to some human activity. According to the Law of Sport's Republic of Serbia, both sexes have equal rights to participate in sport. But, if all have equal chances, why do we have fare more man than woman? One explanation are available opportunities: in equality case, all have the same treatment (the same position), while in equity case all have justful treatment (resources for success are compatible with needs of one specific person or group). Equality insists of equal possibilities and conditions on the start line, while equity comes as result, in the end, when all have ensured justful and equal possibilities not at the beginning, but for reaching the goal and success. So, the aim of this study is to investigate relationship between gender equality and gender equity in sport in Serbia. The sample consisted of 1013 athletes: 62.88 % man and 37.12 % woman. The questionnaire consisted of sociodemographic data and gender classification of sports. The results show that there are big differences in representation of woman in some sports, and that 58.33 % of sports are perceived as gender neutral - 62.5 %. There were egal presence of man in neutral and masculine sports, while they were absent from feminine typed sports. So, it might be concluded that the process of sex typing in both sexes is moved toward neutral sports, which supports thesis about equality, but not equity, since the process of sex typing of sports is still more present in men.
