Knowledge of Civil Engineering in the field of Geotechnical engineering, especially in terms of soil stabilization, it can be used as the development and utilization of soil materials such as for soil peat in the Humbang Hasundutan district, as utilization of soil in road subgrade construction work that will be tested by Unconfined Compressive Strenght Test. This research was conducted in the laboratory with experimental tests, to get results with the addition of 10% lime from peat soil. From the result of soil testing that is carried out on the addition of 10% lime, it is obtained free compressive strength value of 0.017 kg/cm 2 , and it is still classified as very soft soil strength (< 25 kg/cm 2 ), so it has not met the specification of highways specifications to be used as a subgrade which is categorized as min > 2.00 kg/cm 2

This research is a research on the development and utilization of peat soil material that is often found in the Humbang Hasundutan district, where peat soil that has been stabilized with lime can later become new soil parameter data that can be used for road subgrade construction improvements. The purpose of this study was to stabilize the Humbang Hasundutan peat soil mixed with lime to meet the standards for road subgrade construction, which will be tested with the California Bearing Ratio (CBR). This study used experimental methods carried out in the laboratory, by conducting tests to obtain new soil parameter data by trying variations of 10%, 20% and 30% initial lime. From the results obtained, the results of the CBR test of peat soil with a lime mixture variation of 20% have met the specifications of Highways for road construction subgrade, which is 5.5%.

Soil is the basic material used to support the planning of civil construction buildings. If a construction is built on soil conditions that have low bearing capacity, it will cause problems during construction. One type of soil that has a low bearing capacity is peat soil. Therefore it is necessary to improve the type of soil that has a low soil bearing capacity, namely peat soil by using the soil stabilization method. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding 15%, 20%, 25%, 30% coal bottom ash with a curing period of 0 days and 7 days in terms of the CBR value. Based on the research that has been done, it is found that the more addition coal bottom ash with a curing time of 0 days and 7 days, the CBR value of the soil will increase. The CBR values obtained from testing in the laboratory are 2.43% and 3.91%, where based on the results of these tests there is an increase in the CBR value with the addition of 30% coal bottom ash with a curing period of 7 days.
