“…Certain types of secondary responses associated with complex brain functions are influenced by barbiturate resulting in either reduced or abolished activity (Fuster and Docter, 1962 ; Torres and Warner, 1962 ). These responses are correlated with activation of the mesencephalic reticular formation (Fuster and Docter, 1962 ; Torres and Warner, 1962 ) and are related to memory (John, 1967 ) and passive or active conditioning (Sakhiulina and Merzhanova, 1966 ; Fox, 1970 ). It is also believed that the FC, the centro-parietal cortex, and the hippocampus are possible generators for late components (Santos Filha and Matas, 2010 ).…”

“…Sakhiulina and Merzhanova (1966) observed slow surface negative waves in the operant motor zone following establishment of a conditional reflex to low frequency stimulation of midline thalamic nuclei in cats, and Wurtz (1966) has reported similar effects in self-stimulation experiments with rats. Low et al (1966a, b) have demonstrated surface negative slow potential shifts during operant conditioning in rhesus monkeys and regard these as identical with the human CNV.…”

“…In all cases when the conditioned reflex was being established, the natural manifestation of the conditioned-reflex reaction preceded its electrophysiological manifestation, which gives evidence that the appear ance of the additional complex of waves is bound to the period of locali zation of the conditioned reflex [A sratyan, 1965, 1967] as well as to the functioning of well-established conditioned reflexes [Sakhiulina and M erzanova, 1964[Sakhiulina and M erzanova, , 1965[Sakhiulina and M erzanova, , 1966Sakhiulina and L ubchinsky, 1968], However, it was evident from the experiments that the additional RR complex appeared only after long training of an already localized condi tioned reflex.…”
