State‐targeted grievances and resources: Protest participation during economic downturns in Latin America

Abstract: This article analyzes the determinants of protest participation in Latin America. Whereas most research emphasizes grievances over resources, or vice versa, this article explains protest participation as the interaction between individuals' state‐targeted grievances and material resources.
