Static Electromechanical Characteristics of Piezoelectric Converters with various Thickness and Length of Piezoelectric Layers

Abstract: The paper presents the analysis of electromechanical characteristics of piezoelectric converters subjected to an electric field and mechanical load. The analyses were performed based on a method consisting implementation of special segments responsible for electrical boundary conditions to a homogeneous beam. Constitutive equations were developed, allowing one to obtain static electromechanical characteristics for piezoelectric actuators with freely defined boundary conditions and geometry. Moreover, based on … Show more

“…The most common brake system is the friction disc brake, which replaced the older drum brake design [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]. Brakes use friction to transform mechanical energy into thermal energy [ 5 , 6 , 7 ]. Heat is then transferred to the atmosphere and other components of the brake system and suspension of the vehicle [ 8 ].…”

“…The design of a system enabling smooth adjustment of the flow rate between the valve chambers via a mechatronic system is also considered. In addition to the commonly used valves with electromagnetic actuation [31,32], piezoelectric actuation [33,34] is a certain hope.…”

“…Metal matrix composites are increasingly found in the latest solutions of the automotive industry. These matrices are used not only in braking systems, but also in clutches [71], intake systems [72], engine blocks [73], or fuel system elements, mainly classic injectors using piezoelectric stacks [74,75], as well as alternative fuels injectors [76]. These composites are also used as a partial or complete replacement for conventional materials in the production of monoqocue type frames [77].…”
