Stochastic Assessment of Landslide Influence Zone by Material Point Method and Generalized Geotechnical Random Field Theory

Abstract: In landslide analysis, reliable prediction of landslide's influence zone is significantly difficult due to inherent heterogeneity of soils and their spatially varying geological properties. In this paper, a probabilistic framework is proposed to evaluate the landslide hazard zoning through prediction of their influence zone considering the effects of heterogeneous soil properties. Material point method is used to simulate the large deformations during landslide failure. The spatial variation in the shear stren… Show more

“…Naef et al [84] have shown that each model uses a different numerical technique to approximate the governing equations, leading to considerable uncertainty in comparing results [85,86]. The fuzzy logic function is used to transform different ranges of values of various factors in the same space.…”

“…The randomness and heterogeneity of geomaterials are widely admitted, as the consequences of geological activities such as sedimentation (e.g., Phoon and Kulhawy, 1999;Jiang et al, 2014;Masoudian et al, 2019;Ma et al, 2022aMa et al, , 2022bMa et al, , 2022cLiu et al, 2023). In particular, the ks of soils in slopes usually exists significant spatial variability.…”
