The implementation of a democratic classroom atmosphere in elementary schools is still very rare because most of them are still authoritarian and focus on the teacher, even though a democratic classroom atmosphere is very important because it can foster students' enthusiasm for learning, increase student participation in learning, teach democratic values, and create a classroom culture that reflects democratic character. Therefore, this research is important to find out the strategies and ways that teachers can create a democratic classroom atmosphere by recognizing the diverse characteristics of their students. Part of the purpose of this research is to find out teachers' understanding of a democratic classroom atmosphere, efforts, forms of implementation, and evaluations made by teachers in implementing a democratic classroom atmosphere in elementary schools. This study used a sample of 30 students from grades V and VI of SD Muhammadiyah 1 Ketelan Surakarta. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research by describing the data that has been obtained and analyzing the results of the research. Data were collected through classroom observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis of research results using transcription and classification. The results in this study show that teachers have successfully implemented a democratic classroom atmosphere. Teacher perceptions are in accordance with the concept of a democratic classroom atmosphere, teacher efforts and implementation are carried out by fostering active participation of students in discussion activities, providing equal access and facilities, appreciation, interpreting diversity, and giving students freedom to express and speak without fear of being punished. Teacher evaluation uses reflection and direct observation during learning.

Character education is an effort to apply religious, moral, and ethical values to students through knowledge with the help of parents, teachers, and the community. This is very important for the formation and development of student character. Because every child has extraordinary potential from birth, but this potential must continue to be honed and socialized so that their character is fully formed and developed. Due to changes occurring in social, technological, and cultural dynamics today, character education is becoming increasingly important. This is because new challenges arise in building individuals who have strong moral, ethical, and personality principles. This research aims to explore and analyze the effectiveness of cultivating student character through intracurricular and extracurricular activities at SD Al-Ittihadiyah Laut Dendang. The type of research method used is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and analysis of library literature. The results of the research show that intracurricular and extracurricular activities at SD Al-Ittihadiyah Laut Dendang are effective in instilling student character. Activities, such as learning activities, religious activities, and sports activities make a significant contribution to the formation of student character, such as honesty, discipline, cooperation, and responsibility. The implication of this research is how important it is to develop intracurricular and extracurricular activity programs that focus on cultivating student character in elementary schools.

Membaca merupakan alternatif model pembelajaran (program pembelajaran) yang paling efektif, yaitu untuk mencapai tujuan belajar dari seseorang yang tidak tahu menjadi tahu. Membaca juga merupakan alternatif terbaik untuk memperoleh informasi sebagai model belajar siswa. Melihat kenyataan bahwa tidak semua siswa gemar membaca, menjadi tantangan bagi guru untuk menjadikan membaca sebagai kegiatan yang menarik dan rutin dalam agenda sehari-hari siswa. Membaca akan menjadi menarik apabila siswa memahami hakikat membaca, manfaatnya dan metode pengajaran membaca yang sesuai digunakan oleh guru. Penelitian kualitatif deskriptif merupakan metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Seluruh data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh peneliti dari berbagai teknik yaitu teknik wawancara, teknik observasi dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini penting untuk dilakukan karena akan mengungkap penyebab dari berbagai permasalahan yang muncul sehingga nantinya dapat ditemukan solusi berupa strategi guru untuk meningkatkan minat membaca pada siswa kelas IV Sekolah Dasar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan strategi guru dalam menumbuhkan minat baca siswa kelas IV dan mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor apa saja yang menghambat guru dalam menumbuhkan minat membaca siswa kelas IV SD. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini meliputi: Reduksi data, menampilkan data atau menyajikan data dan menarik kesimpulan kemudian dioperasikan. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa meskipun beberapa faktor penghambat dalam menumbuhkan minat membaca siswa seperti strategi dan pendekatan yang akan digunakan untuk meningkatkan literasi belum dipahami dengan baik oleh guru, sekolah tidak melakukan kegiatan literasi, terdapat kurangnya bahan bacaan dan keterlibatan orang tua. Kehadiran sekolah dalam kegiatan literasi tidak memberikan dampak buruk bagi siswa karena guru terus mengupayakan strategi untuk meningkatkan minat belajar siswa.
