Blind students cannot use their senses properly; they can learn by relying on their senses of touch and hearing. For this reason, it is necessary to have teaching media that depend on the importance of communication or hearing to recognize material on the shape of the Earth's surface. This research aims to increase the learning interest of blind students in the fabric of the Earth's surface in social science subjects. This research method is pre-experimental, with blind students being treated with 3D media and observing their responses. The application of 3D media in the form of the Earth's surface in learning for blind children involved eight students. It was implemented in three junior high schools in East Java, Indonesia. These schools include Special Schools in Bojonegoro, Surabaya, and Sidoarjo. The results of the application of 3D media show that using 3D learning media in the form of the Earth's surface in the teaching and learning process can generate new desires and interests, generate motivation, and stimulate learning activities, even bringing psychological influences on blind students. 3D learning media can also help improve students' understanding, present data excitingly and reliably, facilitate data retention, and obtain information about the shape of the Earth's surface.

This study aimed to find out whether comic strips improve the studentsâ€™ mastery on idiomatic expressions. The research used a pre-experimental type with one-group pre-test and post-test design. The population was the second-grade students of the Senior Islamic Boarding School in Lombok. The researcher chose one class which consisted 16 students as the sample. The data was analyzed by using t-test. The data analysis revealed that the use of comic strips on students' idiomatic expression mastery was successful. The increase in the pre-test to post-test score of studentsâ€™ average scores is an indication that the students have really understood and done well in all the questions assigned to them. The treatment given using comic strip media is very helpful for students in answering the questions given. Comic strips help students in overcoming errors in interpreting the idiom. The research analysis of studentsâ€™ scores on the pre-test and post-test scores, it shows that the value of the t-test result is 0.000 0.05, therefore it can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected.

Portraits of Assistive Technology in English Learning for Visual Impaired Students in Higher Education

This study investigates learning English with assistive technology, the learning outcomes, and the experiences of using assistive technology, particularly JAWS and MELDICT. One visually impaired student at a private university in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, was interviewed as part of a qualitative case study. Observation and interviews were used to explore the utilization of assistive technology for learning English by a visually impaired student. The results identified that in the process of learning English skills, a visually impaired student used JAWS dominantly, and nevertheless, visually impaired students used both JAWS and MELDICT, especially in writing. Moreover, assistive technology positively affects the learning outcomes of visually impaired students who absorb the material effectively. Using JAWS and MELDICT, the visually impaired student's English-learning endeavors were both pleasant and fruitful. Practitioners should receive additional debriefing or training to strengthen their pedagogical and psychological capacities to deal with special needs students.
